Pigs and Potatoes: Updates from Sister Connection’s Vocational Training Facility
Sister Connection has started raising pigs at Mount Hope, our vocational training facility in Burundi. This is a great step in the growth of Mount Hope and the Vocational Training program. There are two reasons why Sister Connection chose to start raising pigs:
- To provide an additional vocational training opportunity for widows and orphans
- To help cover the operational costs of Mount Hope by selling the pigs
Most importantly, Sister Connection does not forget God’s expectations of his people. With each litter, depending on the size, Sister Connection will give away 1-2 piglets to a Sister Connection widow. The first beneficiary of the Pay Forward Program is Nzeyimana Beatrice #1408, an unsponsored widow in Sister Connection’s Regular Sponsorship program.

There’s more good news from Mount Hope: the sweet potato harvest is here!
Sweet potatoes are one of the many crops grown on Mount Hope, and this year’s harvest is bountiful.

It is because of Sister Connection’s generous donors that vocational training opportunities like these are available for Sister Connection widows and orphans. Thank you for your love and support of Sister Connection and the widows and orphans in Burundi.
